​​Windows trace the steps between the inside and the outside . The window is not a door or a wall, not a physical but a mental transit. In the window we can live on the border between the inner-closed and outer-open world. This feeling is ambiguous because the window is both protection and fence. The windows make us look inward and at the same time, create a powerful outer imaginary. The window is a space for remembrance and for absence: a place to spur memory. The window is not only opening the interior -exterior landscape, but also the world of others.
Las ventanas trazan pasos que marcan el interior del exterior. Las ventanas no son puertas, ni paredes, no son un tránsito fÃsico, sino mental. En una ventana nosotros podemos vivir en el borde entre lo interno-cerrado y el mundo abierto- externo. Esta sensación es ambigua porque las ventanas son protección y a su vez una cerca. Las ventanas nos hacen mirar hacia el interior y, al mismo tiempo, crear un poderoso imaginario exterior. La ventana es un espacio de recuerdo y de la ausencia: un lugar para estimular la memoria. La ventana se abre no sólo el paisaje interior-exterior, sino también el mundo de los otros.

La Habitación
​​"La Habitación" is a series of paintings that Karla Hernando began in 2007. She began by taking pictures of her bed for 7 consecutive days observing the entry of light through her window and elements that remained iluminated and those who remained in the shadow. She also observed the objects that remained intact and that changed or disappeared. She decided to paint each of these images. This series was revived in 2012 with the series "Entre Sábanas", looking for a new look.
"La habitación" es una serie de pinturas que Karla Hernando inició en el 2007. Ella Comenzó por tomar fotos de su cama durante 7 dÃas consecutivos observando la entrada de luz por su ventana y los elementos que permanecÃan iluminados y los que permanecÃan en la penumbra. También observó los objetos que permanecÃan intactos y los que cambiaban de lugar o desaparecÃan Decidió pintar cada uno de esas imágenes, y fue asà como armó esa serie. Esta serie fue retomada en el año 2012 con la serie "Entre Sábanas", buscando una nueva mirada.
Entre sábanas
​​The footprint of the body remains intact on the sheets. The folds reveal or hide stories of bodies. Every corner invites the viewer to extend the sheets searching for something that might be revealed to know more such bodies.The folds and drawings suggest what might have happened in that space where the boundary between dream and reality is crossed.
The bed as a permanent element and the light as a transitorial factor defines the passive and stormy of the reality and fantasy. The light gives relief to storm folds where some objects are revealed and some others are lost. Under the light details stands out, drawings and texts that shows the memory of a colective dream.
La huella del cuerpo permanece intacta en las sábanas. Los pliegues revelan o esconden historias de los cuerpos. Cada esquina invita a extender las sábanas en búsqueda de algo que podrÃa revelarse para saber más de dichos cuerpos. Los pliegues y algunos dibujos dejan ver lo que pudo haber pasado en ese espacio donde el limite entre el sueño y lo real se traspasa.
La cama como elemento permanente y la luz como factor transitorio definen lo pasivo y tormentoso de la realidad y el ensueño. La luz le da relieve a la tormenta de pliegues donde algunos objetos se develan o se pierden. Bajo la luz se destacan los detalles, textos dibujos que son elementos de la memoria de una ensoñación colectiva.

Horizontes
​​"Horizontes" is a series of paintings that Karla Hernando made in 2009 after a long period of being in medical treatment. It was a display of particles that drove the artist to take a new horizon in her life. This series was exhibited at a dance center where Tatiana Zuga danced at the opening representing the pictures.
"Horizontes" es una serie de pinturas que Karla Hernando realizó en el 2009 después de un largo periodo estar en tratamiento médico. Fue un despliegue de partÃculas que empujaron a la artista a tomar un nuevo horizonte en su vida. Esta serie fue expuesta en un centro de danza donde Tatiana Zugazagoitia bailó en la inauguración representando los cuadros.
